Overview

Hiring Immediately!

The General Manager of Dining is responsible for the effective and efficient oversight of the dining rooms, healthcare food and overall food service operations including catering services, in our communities. The GM will provide leadership, direction and coaching for the food and nutrition services provided to our residents. The role provides guidance and support to the Dining Services team to attain the highest standards of food quality and nutrition services while maintaining effective financial controls.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintains effective and efficient dining services, maintains positive resident and visitor relations, and ensures products and staff services are consistent with quality and excellence standards.
  • Assists Profit & Loss management by following cash control/security procedures, managing staffing and overtime budget, maintaining inventory controls, managing staff performance, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, supervises, and retains qualified wait staff, dietary aides, and utility workers to carry out the responsibilities of the community's dining services department.
  • Develops and maintains staff schedules and work assignments.
  • Completes employee performance appraisals on a timely basis.
  • Maintains and corrects the job performance of employees through effective discipline.
  • Complies with, supports and enforces policies inclusive of safety and infection control procedures. Insures staff adheres to sanitation policies and regulations
  • Directly supervises the delivery of food products and effective staff service to residents.
  • Ensures food is received, stored, prepared, held and served in compliance with dining services procedures and state and federal guidelines.
  • Purchases dietary food and supplies within assigned budgets and through company approved distribution sources and vendors.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Related Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience as a dining services unit manager (General Manager) or assistant manager in either restaurant or institutional setting.
  • Long Term Care or Health Care dining services experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, service and operation of all kitchen equipment.

Education or Degree Required:

  • Minimum Associates level degree in Culinary, Hotel/Restaurant management, or certified graduate of accredited culinary educational institution.
  • Bachelor's degree a plus.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

  • Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) strongly preferred; ability to successfully complete CDM certification.
  • ServSafe certification.
